Pet Portraits and Commissioned Artworks

I love to work on commissioned works to turn beloved pets, animals and wildlife into the vibrant paintings. Through each painting, I aim to capture the individual character and personality of the animal.
All I need to create your painting are some good photographs to work from and where possible some information on unique characteristics, markings, colouring etc to make sure I can get the best likeness possible! If would like to commission a bespoke piece which isn't of a specific pet/photograph (for example some hares in a meadow) I am more than happy to work to this, discussing your vision for the piece, colours, sizing etc.
I work in high quality watercolour paints on fine art quality papers to ensure that your painting can be treasured for a life time and framing can be added upon request.
I am more than happy to work on animals of all kinds and I am able to create compositions of multiple animals from individual photographs!

Please see below some examples of past commissions and read below for prices, a guide of how to order and terms and conditions for my portraits. If you have any questions at all just let me know! You can find many more examples of past commissions over on my Facebook and Instagram pages.

How to order and Photograph requirements:

Pricing guide:
Here is a guide for my most popular sized paintings with the pricing guide for each size. I am more than happy to work to different sizes/formats please just message for an accurate quote. Each watercolour painting is completed using professional high quality watercolour paints on 300gsm cold pressed watercolour paper and comes well presented in a textured white mount.  Framing is available upon request.
Please note prices vary depending on how many subjects are in each painting as prices have to be calculated to take into consideration the complexity of each painting and the hours it will take to create.

Step one: Gather photograph references
The first and most important step in the process of ordering your portrait is gathering photographs. To create your painting I will need high-quality photographs to work from. This is very important as the better the photograph, the better the outcome will be. Multiple photographs would be best, taken in good light which clearly show the eyes and any defining features. For portraits of multiple pets, photos of each pet individually are fine, I can create a composition for you ( I understand completely, the near impossibility of getting pets to pose nicely together!).
Please take time to consider this step as it is crucial to how your portrait will come out and I am only able to will draw/paint what I can see!

Step two: Decide on the specifics
To order your portrait you will need to decide on the specifics of your painting. Take time to read through my pricing and sizing guide and choose your desired size for your watercolour painting.  Also have a think about how you would like your painting composition to be (e.g. a full face and shoulder painting or a full body portrait).
For the finer details, please consider if there are any features in your reference photographs that you would like to be excluded or altered for the painting (e.g. collars, ear tags removed or if you like to pet to be made to look less grey if it is elderly or fluffier if it has been recently clipped). At this stage also think about any extra details you would like to be added such as grass, flowers etc. If any finer details are not specified when ordering the portrait I will not be able to accept any responsibility if the finished painting not being quite as you imagined. I want to create the painting to be as good as possible for you so the more specific you are, the better the final result will be!

Step three: Timescale or special dates!
If your commission is to be for a gift and you have a specific completion date in mind for your completion, please let me know and where possible I do my very best to meet it! Please be aware that Christmas commissions become fully booked by  around September so book in early to avoid disappointment!
