Hi, I'm Hollie! It's lovely to meet you...

Hi, I’m Hollie– a watercolour artist, animal lover, and countryside wanderer, living in the beautiful rolling hills of Shropshire with my husband Joe, our son Thomas, and our very bouncy springer spaniel, Pippin.

My journey with art and animals started early. As an eight-year-old, I squirrelled away my £1 pocket money each week until I had saved enough to buy my very own fluffy pet rabbit. Fast forward ten years, and my friends bought me the perfect 18th birthday present… a goat! Animals have always been close to my heart – whether they’re wild creatures spotted in the fields, or much-loved pets with big personalities. I’m endlessly fascinated by their little quirks and mannerisms, and I love trying to capture that spirit in my paintings.

Creativity has always been part of my life. From making cereal box shoes and messy finger paintings as a child, to experimenting with sculpture, large-scale acrylics, and even furniture making – art has been my constant. I went on to study Fine Art and Design all the way from GCSE to university, and in 2015 I graduated from Lancaster University with a First Class degree in Fine Art.

After graduating, I moved to Manchester and took a job at John Lewis while I worked out what was next. In every spare moment, I’d retreat to the little spare bedroom I turned into a makeshift studio, where I began painting animals — and something just clicked. I shared my first paintings on social media in late 2016, and to my amazement, they began to sell.
​I left my job to follow my dream of becoming a full-time artist.

Since then, it’s been a whirlwind of paint, people, and passion. I’ve travelled around the country exhibiting at shows like the Great Yorkshire Show, Royal Three Counties, and Royal Cheshire Show, and met so many wonderful customers and fellow makers at local events.

After the pandemic in 2020, I returned home to Shropshire, and found myself more inspired than ever. Surrounded by the countryside I grew up in, I spend a lot of time out walking, gathering ideas and sketching from memory, or simply noticing the small, quiet details that later find their way into my work. I like to bring a touch of whimsy and playfulness into each painting, to reflect the character of the animals I paint – whether it’s a curious hare, a sleepy fox, or a cheeky field mouse.

In 2024, I became a mum to our son Thomas, and life has shifted into a new and very beautiful rhythm. Juggling motherhood and making art has its challenges, but it's also brought a new softness and appreciation for slow, thoughtful creativity. Most days, you’ll find me painting in my studio (often with muddy paw prints on the floor and a baby toy or two nearby), or out walking with Pippin, keeping my eyes open for inspiration.
